Full guide: Clairic field types: text, number, date, list, estimate and forecast
An estimate is one of the nine field types of Clairic, Cloudflare’s extraction model. Use it when the honest answer is a range, not a value printed in the input.
You must set min and max, as numbers or as ISO dates for a date estimate. step sets the grid, and scale can be linear (the default) or log. The answer carries value, mean, median, p10 and p90. The request option include_quantiles adds all 99 percentiles.
In the Workers AI invoice example, days_to_pay comes back with a median of 30 days and an 80% interval of 21 to 38. Cloudflare’s concepts page notes that the real outcome “can still fall outside that interval”, and that estimates return a prediction “even when the input provides little information.”
An estimate has no p_null. Its uncertainty is the width of the interval. A forecast is the same idea repeated for each step of a future series. The Clairic field types guide covers all nine types.
