jev-pruner is a Claude Code plugin that trims noisy Bash output before it reaches the main model, using Jev to decide what’s safe to cut rather than summarizing the output itself. A hook wraps the Bash tool’s result: output under an estimated 10,000 tokens passes through untouched, and so do errors, structured formats like JSON, XML, YAML and diffs, whole-document commands such as cat, jq, git diff or git show, and recognized documentation, source code or disassembly, regardless of which command printed them.
Output that clears the threshold gets split into chunks, and Jev answers one noul question per chunk: does any line in this chunk need to remain available? A single needed line protects the whole chunk, including values an earlier instruction in the session still depends on, even if a later reply shouldn’t repeat them. Jev sees the context, the task, session history and the command itself alongside each chunk, plus category guidance for recognized build, test, install or search commands.
The plugin also works with Codex, with separate install and usage instructions for that setup.
