Paolo Rosson got a Rubik’s Cube to solve itself with Jev, using the beginner method most people learn from a YouTube tutorial: white cross, corners, middle layer, then the yellow layer. The method itself is ordinary code. At every step Jev looks at the cube and picks which case it is in, and the code checks every pick.
Jev is not a language model. Rosson says it answers one question in about 250ms with a probability, and he reports around 4 seconds of total model time for the whole solve.
Because it follows the beginner method, the solve takes 94 moves rather than the 22-move optimal solution. Rosson describes this as solving it “like a person does”. The video is slowed down so the moves are readable.
